The ego may be broken in some way, but it is still that man namedChris Egowho does most of the work for this album: he plays the instruments, provides the vocals, and actually does everything. The others are probablylive musicianswho contributed very little to the recording of this album. This is thedebut albumof this band – they released anEPin 2011, but then it went quiet. According to them, themusical stylehas also changed somewhat since then. Now they present44 minutes of music, divided overtwelve tracks, one of which is a shortinstrumental piece, and on which we also find aguest appearance by a Depeche Mode member. terugvinden.

According to the press material, it is aboutelectro pop/rock, and that is actually not a bad description of what you hear. Another way to describe it iscatchy disco-rock– music that makes you want to dance, if you like that sort of thing. Theelectronic soundsthey take the lead and sound quite good. Thevocalsare also fine, sometimes a bitdistorted. Thevariationbetween the songs is okay: occasionally a bitschizophrenic, but overallcoherent. Moreover, it isshort and concise, which is always a positive thing. Still, it doesn't really take me to some kind of wonderland.

The album doesn't bring groundbreaking innovation, but it does feelrelatively fresh, which I consider a positive aspect. Theoverall atmosphereof the album ispositive and energetic– it radiates a good mood. It is an album that enhances thelistening pleasureand is generallypleasantto listen to, even if it doesn't really stand out. However, there are a fewhighlightson it, such asElectric Girl, which really stands out. Without theinstrumental second-to-last track(which just doesn't work well) and a few weaker songs, this could have been anexcellent album– now I just find it agood album. Broken Egodoesn't completely take me to wonderland, despite the attempt to convince me that everything is perfect – I don't fully believe it.

Still, I think we can consider this album asfairly goodto be considered. It contains a fewconvincing tracksand I appreciate thepositive atmosphereit radiates. It is a breath of fresh air among all thosegray, serious metal bandswith theirlong hair and gloomy faces– we need more bands thatbring lightness and positive energyThese guys are doing their best, and I don't think anyone can really be negative about an album like this. It puts me in abetter mood, and that alone is agood reasonto give it a closer listen.
