Necrotic Surface Discarded

Devoid Of Thought has been on a relentless rise for years now. The Italian band released their debut album Outer World Graves in 2021.00 via Everlasting Spew Records to great, worldwide acclaim. Following that album, the death metal quartet embarked on three different international tours, most notably playing across Europe with Artificial Brain, playing Brutal Assault and opening for Beherit in their only Italian appearance ever. Now, the wait is almost over, as the works for Devoid Of Thought’s long-awaited sophomore record are almost completed. Yet, not many know that the band’s history goes way back. Devoid Of Thought has been active for almost ten years, and Necrotic Surface Discarded is proof of such history, finally giving due light to a number of death metal spells compiled in different time spans and never properly released. Necrotic Surface Discarded bears eight different tracks coming from different times and places, a testimony to the everchanging path and acquired maturity of Devoid Of Thought. In the words of guitarist and singer Andrea Collaro, “Necrotic Surface Discarded per se is one of the first songs we ever wrote and a regular pick in all our setlists, that’s the reason why we chose to re-record it with our current lineup and name this release after it. This is a moment of change for us”, Collaro continues, “and we wanted to put a full stop on the first era of the band, marking our tenth anniversary and approaching our new studio album release with a clean slate”. Devoid Of Thought has been called different names: “Timeghoul-inspired”, “Blood Incantation worship” or even “Morbid Angel disciples”. All are true, yet none is enough to exhaustively describe their sound. The band from the Varese area is carving its own place in the heart of the death metal scene. Necrotic Surface Discarded will be out via Unorthodox Emanations on CD and a limited run of tapes on October 24th, 2025.
